Premium rate numbers are used by services such as TV show voting, competitions, directory inquiries, customer service lines and chat lines. Calls and texts to these numbers are charged at a higher rate than standard calls.
Example:
Numbers starting with the following are considered as premium rate numbers;
UK - 070..., 087..., 084...., 011..., 089...
Why Can’t I Call These Numbers?
Some of these numbers may have been blocked to prevent bill shock and/or have been identified as explicit or inappropriate in nature.
If I Am Able To Call One, How Much Is It Going To Cost Me?
The access charge varies for Post-Pay & Pre-Pay customers (25ppm / 12ppm respectively). However, the service charge by the provider/business you are contacting may vary.
Please read call charges prior to making the phone call.
I Can’t Call a UK Service Line From Abroad, Even Though The Number Is Not Blocked.
If you are experiencing issues contacting Freephone or premium rate numbers from outside the UK, please make sure you are using the correct dialling format.
